Leland Wong is a fine artist whose interest in photography began at an early age. He began to take photography seriously during his senior year in high school having his works published in the school and community newspapers. The San Francisco native has a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from San Francisco State University where he emphasized in photography and printmaking. He has worked as a photojournalist for local community newspapers and has exhibited his photographic works nationally in galleries and museums. Leland has traveled and photographed extensively in Asia on his own. Wong began photographing weddings and portraiture in 1975 and has found it to be a challenge he enjoys.

Leland is an active member in the Professional Photographers of the Bay Area and holds a certified professional photographer credential with the Professional Photographers of America. He has learned and assisted with some of the finest masters of wedding and portrait photography in the world. He continues to further his knowledge of his craft by annually attending the Golden Gate School of Professional Photography where he serves as a trustee, and has also been an assistant and instructor with the school.

Leland also taught photography at the Kearny Street Workshop, Japantown Art and Media Workshop, SOMARTS Art Center and SF Photo Center in San Francisco. He have also photographed and assisted for well known studios.

When not photographing, the busy father of three children is also a graphic artist who designs, does illustrations, screenprints posters and t-shirts. Leland is best known for the posters he's been designing and screenprinting of the Nihon Machi Street Fair for more than 30 years. A long time practitioner of Hung Ga, Choy Li Fut, White Crane, Lanshou, Chen Taiji, Leland can be found standing in the line of Costco's food court waiting for his $1.50 hot dog or swimming laps in the cold pool during the last hour at the SF Bay Club.

Just as she was a happy little child.

Cap and gown picture, the school days are over.
